More and more small and medium businesses are having to deal with the challenge of training as the workforce needs continue to become apparent. But when the HR staff is a staff of zero, one or two at best, how can a company do this? Even more challenging is the number of businesses that have employees spread out around the globe now. But someone has to tackle the issue - with with the beauty of the internet, now a very small HR staff can have a learning experience that you would be proud of!

1. Content Pages that are easy to manage! Need to adjust your home page, or shift some things around (like it is open enrollment season) - these systems let you configure them.
2. User Management: Provide a wide range of ways to get users into the systems, even as simple as uploading spreadsheets.
3. Course Development is where the magic is happening! These new systems allow for you to either subscribe to content, upload your own content, or create content in a variety of formats.
Instructional Design for the HR Generalist:
Aside from having to figure out how to deliver the training, HR is often the one who has to create and deliver it. It used to be, trying to develop an online course required a graphic arts degree, a background in coding XML, and HRIS skills. But now, there are a several ways to create content:
- Use a basic PowerPoint, or use a PowerPoint with a Voice Over
- Use Videos - such as youtube, webex, etc.
- You can upload office files, PDF’s, and even give them links to other resources on the web that you want them to use.
Now it is very easy and feasible for someone to create their own content.
Course Management:
Once you have the content, the next step is to create the Courses, and that is now a snap (but it is also pretty awesome!). It is very easy to create a “Course” and then attach several elements of training and sequence them. For instance, you could put together a new hire training that you assign to all new hires and have 5 individual modules they need to complete (Company overview,Product line, Safety, Ethics and how travel expense works). You assign it to the individual and sit back and see what their progress is.
Who to Use? Consider Docebo
