Here is an interesting riddle! If health care costs are going up - then why is the trend going down?
Okay, a little more detail is needed.. Deloitte did a really cool study and looked at the Fortune 500 SEC filings on all post retirement plans - and as part of that is the Health Care benefit plans. Out of the 500 Fortune, they got data on 268 of them..And on average the projected cost of Health Care costs (Year over Year) went down by .5%.
The rest of the study is also interesting as they compare the discount rates, return rates, and interest rates that the various companies are using.. Bottom line? Companies are a bit positive!
