The atlantic did a really good job explaining the impact of the recession on the population, and the above chart paints the clear picture. If you didn't have your college degree - you had a target on your back and it is hard to get off! Is this a bad thing?
The more familiar I am getting with the manufacturing sector - the more concerned I am that we have created a Bias towards college degrees that may leave the US shortchanged in the long run. We need machinists, mechanics, structural mechanics, plumbers, electricians, road workers, wood workers, etc. - and entry into those jobs is getting smaller and smaller. In my home state of Georgia - out of the the 500 high schools - only 30 have Shop class now.
